May 2012 ... Thelma was willing to try many more things than the insular average British person, but in one thing she was never ready for compromise: English tea. Cuba, Nashville, Reykjavik, Oslo, Berlin, Szeged, Siberia, wherever - she insisted on the real McCoy *. We were staying at a surprisingly excellent and affordable hotel in Nashville, not far from the airport - Room 511, Drury Inn & Suites Hotel. We got to know a local African-American taxi driver, who ferried us in and out of downtown Nashville - so it was easy access from this hotel. I still have that green Coke glass I bought in downtown Nashville in a "pound" shop for $1, when we walked about town with her (seen here on the table).
