I am keeping the undeleted emails and text messages my sweet Thelma sent me. This is the most heart-rending message I ever received from her or from anybody else in my whole life. Each time - daily - when I read her words, it feels like she is talking to me now, and it shatters my heart to think how she must have felt and what was on her mind when she wrote this bravely only 22 days before the terrible dawn hour. It is the kind of message that makes me despair profoundly at my inability to help her in her struggle for her dear life so precious to me. I keep re-reading these words nearly every day, and each time my head goes light, and they tear my soul apart.
