France trip Thelma gave me as a birthday present

Next year, we popped over again for a bit of shopping in Calais - it was a treat from Thelma. Often we gave each other little trips or excursions abroad or in Britain for special occasions. You may notice, this was before Thelma took back her birth surname by deed poll (I asked her about it, but she assured me, her children did not have a problem with it). In 2006 she was still using her "owner's" (ex first husband's) branding label. During our marriage, both of us kept our original identitites (nobody owns anyone by branding), though some people insisted on sticking my surname to hers, and some official parties used the name which is at the heading of this tribute - but that's how she reverted to her Dad's nice surname: McAuley, and since then she was known mostly as Thelma McAuley.
