Thelma happily descended into a lava tube cave

From Las on 27th November 2021 Thelma happily descended into a lava tube cave

On one of our amazing excursions here in Iceland, in the lava fields of the Reykjanes Peninsula, where there are various geological wonders, and where the Blue Lagoon also is. It was close to New Year's Eve in 2004. Of course, everything was frozen and covered in thick snow. We had to slide down the snow chute into the cave through that entrance hole you can see behind Thelma. In July 2023, it was in this lava field on the Reykjanes peninsula in southwest Iceland, near the capital Reykjavik, following intense earthquake activity in the area, that a volcano, which had been dormant for centuries, erupted with intense lava flows. Who knows, lava may have re-appeared in the very lava tubes we had climbed into with my sweet pal in 2004.
