on the banks of the Danube, Budapest

From Las on 25th October 2021 on the banks of the Danube, Budapest

Husband's favourite picture of times of great hopes. One of her cultural surprises in Budapest was that a soldier at the Old Royal Palace ordered her not to sit on a window ledge (not common in Britain to be told off for that). We were both amused by how closely we were watched by the zealous, and probably bored, elderly gallery attendant ladies in the Hall of Art (Műcsarnok). But soon she got more acquainted with Hungarian culture and style, and she could pronounce "krumplipaprikás" (potato goulasch) and "Hódmezővásárhely" (my town of birth) perfectly. She even tried breaded pig's brain (once - didn't ask for seconds), carp goulasch soup, and cooked bone marrow on toast. But all only with English tea.
